Our Staff Bill Durkee [email protected] Bill is a familiar face to many of our clients, as he worked for Kelman-Lazarov from 1999 to 2006, rejoining our team in January 2014. Bill is instrumental in managing our firm's day-to-day operations. One area of responsibility is Information Technology, helping clients with online issues and with eDocument eSignatures, a new way to open accounts through the ease of a link in an email. Bill assists internally with IT in the office as well.“I like helping people,” Bill says. “I enjoy working with the firm’s clients, or my internal clients – my coworkers. Helping people better understand how IT can help is rewarding to me.”Bill received his Associates Degree in Information Technology from State Technical Institute.He and his partner live in Denver, CO with their two dogs, Leo and Gracie. They enjoy traveling. The beach is a favorite destination – they’ve visited Hawaii, California, Florida, and both Carolina coasts. Many trips include family, as well as the foreign exchange students they have hosted over the years. April Lowery [email protected] April joined Kelman-Lazarov in 2016 after more than 16 years of experience in the financial industry. Prior to joining the K-L team, she worked at First Tennessee Bank, First Tennessee Brokerage, Inc., and FTB Advisors, Inc. As our Senior Client Service Administrator, April supports our day-to-day operations, including opening accounts; handling transfers, rollovers, and money movements; and contributes to the planning and investment teams as needed.“What attracted me most to K-L is the synergy and team atmosphere,” April says. “Everyone in the group strives to do the best thing for each and every client. I'm proud to be a part of a team that puts our clients’ needs first.”A native of Munford, TN, April received her Bachelors of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Memphis in 2002. She is a supporter of Susan G. Komen Memphis-MidSouth, the National Kidney Foundation, and K-Love radio station (94.9 FM).April and her husband Zach reside in Millington, TN with their son Dallas, daughter Witten, and three dogs (Avery, Shelby, and Sadye). She plays competitive co-ed volleyball and softball in Millington and assists her husband with the Independent Men's Baseball League (IMBL) in Memphis, TN. When her family is not at the baseball field, they like going to see movies, spending the day playing in a local park, cheering on local Memphis teams, or supporting the Dallas Cowboys at home surrounded by family and friends. “Whatever we do, we do it together!” she says. Elliott Machin [email protected] Elliott joined Kelman-Lazarov in 2014 and handles most of the office administrative tasks. Her areas of responsibility include working with clients and connecting them with advisors. She also works with Schwab on a day-to-day basis and ensures that accounts are opened with the correct features for the client. In addition, Elliott is the office event planner.“I am truly blessed with an amazing group of people here at K-L,” she says. “From the staff to the clients, it is such a privilege to work alongside such a caring group of individuals. I really enjoy working with clients and learning more about the ways we can best help build their futures. I also love planning our office functions!”A native of Memphis, Elliott graduated from Hendrix College in 2010. After college, she taught English in Argentina for three years, spending a small portion of that time in South Africa.A lover of languages, Elliott speaks fluent Spanish. She also enjoys outdoor pursuits -- running and playing tennis are favorite activities. Her parents reside in Memphis, so she gets to spend time with them and their beautiful “pet children,” Buddy, Davey, and Tony. Michael Munekata [email protected] Michael joined the Kelman-Lazarov team in May 2010. His primary focus is assisting the financial planning/client services team. In addition, he serves as the office’s technology manager, maintaining and updating our website and office programming.“Getting to know our clients is by far the most rewarding aspect of my job,” Michael says. “Understanding their goals and concerns is as important to me as understanding what their investment strategy should be. Ultimately, sitting across from a client with a clear understanding of that person gives me a sense of accomplishment. Because at that point, I can feel confident that I’m helping K-L make the best decision on behalf of each client.”Michael received his B.A. in Psychology with a concentration in Industrial & Organizational Psychology from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 2010 and his M.B.A. from Christian Brothers University in 2015.Michael and his wife Cara are huge football fans and support the Memphis Grizzles, but diverge when it comes to college ball – Cara cheers for Michigan while Michael sports orange in favor of Tennessee. They enjoy the Broadway productions at The Orpheum as well. An avid gym goer, Michael makes sure to get a workout everyday at 5:00 a.m. and would love to run the New York Marathon one day. Jacob Samuels [email protected] Jacob joined Kelman-Lazarov in April 2013 as a member of our investment advisory team. His responsibilities include quarterly reporting and billing, maintaining our performance database, and preparing investment reviews. His focus as a part of K-L’s investment committee is research and trading.“I appreciate that K-L encourages an atmosphere of positivity and requires a commitment to continuous personal growth,” Jacob says. “The focus on these areas really helps us provide a better experience for our clients.”A native of Memphis, Jacob graduated from the University of Memphis in 2010 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. Prior to K-L, Jacob worked at Samuels Furniture with roles in marketing, accounting, and sales.Jacob is a BBYO, Inc. youth group advisor and serves on the Board of Directors at the Memphis Jewish Community Center. In his free time, Jacob enjoys playing golf and is an avid University of Memphis Tigers and Grizzlies fan. Loraine Wolf [email protected] Lorraine joined Kelman-Lazarov in January 2006 after working more than twenty years as a corporate paralegal. Prior to joining the K-L team, she worked in the legal departments of several major Memphis-based corporations, including Federal Express Corporation, Holiday Inns, Inc. and PCS Nitrogen, Inc. (formerly Arcadian Corporation).Lorraine maintains all K-L compliance records, responds to all monthly, quarterly and annual compliance requests, and completes all regulatory filings for our Independent Registered Investment Advisor. In addition, she acts as a liaison between our Broker Dealer’s compliance department and our outside RIA compliance consultant, ensuring that our compliance procedures are followed.“It is a pleasure and an honor to be a part of a team that provides personal and superb customer service to all of our clients,” says Lorraine. “I have personally watched the growth of K-L and am very proud of our culture and accomplishments.”A passionate advocate for high quality breast health care for all women – regardless of income and insurance – Lorraine has been involved with Susan G. Komen Memphis-MidSouth for over 20 years. She is currently serving as President of the Board, after serving as board member secretary and grant chairman for many years. She also serves as Corresponding Secretary for the Board of the Jewish Historical Society of Memphis and the Mid-South.A native of Memphis, Lorraine obtained a B.A. degree in Forensic Studies from Indiana University and a paralegal certificate from the first postgraduate paralegal school in the country, formerly The Institute for Paralegal Training in Philadelphia, PA.Lorraine is married to Bert, a Memphis business attorney, and they have two sons, Jonathan and Aaron. Both sons were born on August 1, six years apart! Lorraine enjoys yoga, Pilates, genealogy, reading, and volunteering in the community.
